The opening concert of the Guitar Festival features the New Orleans Guitar Trio and the Texas Guitar Quartet. Ticket included with festival registration.

Depending on demand, at least one individual lesson with a festival artist.


12:30-2 p.m.Lunch Break


2-2:45 p.m.Guitar Building with Wade Landeche

Learn all about the different building processes, designs and materials that are commonly used in guitars today from local luthier Wade Landeche


3-4 p.m.Classical Fingerstyle Technique with Jay Kacherski

For jazz, blues, rock, country, folk and bluegrass players that want to improve their fingerstyle chops. Included with full registration. Individual tickets available below.


3-5 p.m.Alejandro Montiel and Joseph Palmer Masterclass

Free and open to the public.


7:30 p.m.Adam Bock & Martha Masters

The festival continues with a concert by Loyola New Orleans guitar faculty Adam Bock and Loyola Marymount guitar faculty Martha Masters. Ticket included with festival registration.

2020 Festival Artists

Martha Masters Loyola Marymount Guitar Faculty

Martha Masters received both the Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Peabody Conservatory, where she studied with Manuel Barrueco, and completed the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Southern California as a student of Scott Tennant.

Ms. Masters is currently on the guitar faculty of Loyola Marymount University and California State University Fullerton, and is president of the Guitar Foundation of America. She has five recordings on the Naxos and GSP labels, and has published books three books with Mel Bay Publications and Alfred Music.


Texas Guitar Quartet

Formed in 2008, Isaac Bustos, Jay Kacherski, Alejandro Montiel, and Joseph Palmer have been hailed as "Impeccable in every respect" by Classical Guitar Magazine. Throughout the United States, Central American, Spain, and China, audiences have embraced the quartet for their daring programs, dazzling virtuosity and joyful music making.


Adam Bock Loyola New Orleans Guitar Faculty

New Orleans native Adam Bock was raised and educated in the musically rich culture of New Orleans. Bock received a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance and a Master’s Degree in Jazz Guitar Performance, and has studied with John Rankin, Steve Masakowski, Hank Mackie, Bill Solley, Phil Degruy, and Jimmy Foster. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Jazz Education Network, and is certified in the Suzuki Method.


New Orleans Guitar Trio

A newly formed ensemble of talented award winning guitarists performing great music from across the centuries. Members include Taylor Counce, Andres Hernandez, and Brandon Carcamo.


Dr. Jay Kacherski Loyola New Orleans Guitar Faculty & Festival Director

"Virtuosismo" and "technical dominance" are the words used by the press to describe American guitarist and New York native, Jay Kacherski. He holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master's Degree in Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, and undergraduate degrees Music and Spanish from Florida Southern College where he graduated with honors. Kacherski is currently on the guitar faculty at Loyola University, the University of New Orleans, and McNeese State University, and NOCCA, the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.
